If you live in the surrounding Los Angeles area and are in need of a therapist referral, write me and I will do my best to give you appropriate names based on your needs. If you live outside of the Los Angeles area, then take a moment to read 3 simple steps to finding a solid referral:
1) Ask a reliable friend – If you know that your friend is having a positive experience in their therapy ask if she or he would feel comfortable with you contacting their clinician. If it feels too close for comfort for your friend, then ask him or her to ask their therapist for a solid referral for you.
2) Speak to your general practitioner or your OBGYN – Those are doctors who tend to always have in their pocket a good therapist referral for patients.
3) Once you’ve gathered two or three names, shop around! Working with a specific therapist is a very unique relationship and it needs to be with the RIGHT person for you! Spend some time talking on the phone with each therapist to get a feel and/or meet with each one to fully assess if that therapist is a good match for you.
